Mirza Hasanuzzaman (Ph.D.) is a Professor of Agronomy at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Hons.) from Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, where he achieved First Class, received a gold medal for being first in his class, and earned a Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Award. He also completed a Master of Science in Agronomy from the same university, where he was once again at top of his class with a CGPA 4.0. He received his Ph.D. with a dissertation on ‘Plant Stress Physiology and Antioxidant Metabolism’ from the United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences, Ehime University, Japan with a Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship. Later, he completed his postdoctoral research in the Center of Molecular Biosciences (COMB), University of the Ryukyus, Okinawa, Japan with a ‘Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS)’ postdoctoral fellowship. Subsequently, he became an Adjunct Senior Researcher at the University of Tasmania with an Australian Government’s Endeavour Research Fellowship. Prof. Hasanuzzaman has over 250 publications on the Web of Science (Web of Science ResearcherID: A-1665-2010). He has edited 10 books and written over 30 book chapters on important aspects of plant physiology, plant stress responses, and environmental problems in relation to plant species. His publications are cited over 24500 times as per Web of Science with an h-index of 82 (as of January  2026) and named as named a Highly Cited Researcher 2021 and 2022 by Clarivate. He is an Editor and a reviewer for more than 60 ISI-indexed peer-reviewed international journals and is the recipient of ‘Publons Peer Review Awards 2017, 2018, and 2019’. He is acting Associate Editor of Plant Signaling & Behavior (Taylor and Francis); Phyton (Tech Science Press, USA); Academic Editor of Scientific Reports (Nature), Plants (MDPI), and Member of the Editorial Board of Plant Physiology and Biochemistry (Elsevier), Annals of Agricultural Sciences (Elsevier), Communicative and Integrative Biology (Taylor & Francis) and so on. He is an active member of 50 professional societies and is the acting General Secretary of the Bangladesh JSPS Alumni Association and Publication Secretary of Bangladesh Society of Agronomy and Weed Science Society of Bangladesh. He received the World Academy of Science (TWAS) Young Scientist Award 2014, UGC Gold Medal in 2018, GNOBB Award 2021, Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (BAS) Gold Medal Award (Senior Category)-2022, Society for Plant Research Young Scientist Award-2023, and several other awards and fellowships for his contribution to research. He is a fellow of the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (BAS) and Royal Society of Biology and International Society of Environmental Botanists .
