Faculty of Agriculture

Founded in 1937 as The Bengal Agricultural Institute, the Faculty of Agriculture is the oldest agricultural institution in the subcontinent. It has a long tradition of excellence in teaching and research, shaping the foundation of agricultural education in Bangladesh.

The faculty combines traditional agricultural studies with modern fields such as food systems sciences and geodesy. Its research-led programs strengthen Bangladesh’s role in sustainable agriculture and innovation.

Offers B.Sc. Ag. (Hons.) and various M.S. degree programs that are fully research-driven. The curriculum is designed to promote both fundamental and applied research, preparing graduates for real-world agricultural challenges.

The faculty fosters cross-disciplinary collaboration among departments, encouraging innovation and creative problem-solving to address global issues like energy shortage, sustainable land use, and food security.

As Bangladesh is an agriculture-based country, the faculty plays a key role in advancing agricultural productivity, food safety, and sustainable resource management across the nation.

Home to 15 departments, over 500 academic staff, and 186 world-class teaching professionals, the faculty provides a rich academic environment for students and researchers.

The faculty has produced nearly 5,000 undergraduates and 600 postgraduates, contributing highly skilled professionals to both national and global agricultural sectors.

Recognized as a “Center of Excellence in Agricultural Education”, the Faculty of Agriculture continues to lead in education, innovation, and research for the sustainable future of Bangladesh’s agriculture.
